ev charging station

Include EV Charging Stations in Your Sustainability Strategy

When planning your organization’s sustainability strategy, consider adding EV charging stations in your parking lot. Electric cars are becoming more affordable and accepted by the public, and your business can accommodate your clients and employees with an essential service. At Asphalt Surfacing, we can help you renovate your parking area for charging stations and enable your business to promote its eco-friendly awareness.

Environmental Impact

With a new charging station, your business is reducing its environmental impact and supporting green energy. Electric vehicles have zero emissions and much smaller carbon footprints than gas-powered vehicles. If your business uses vehicles for deliveries, you can work on converting your fleet to EVs to further your commitment to environmental change. Purchasing an entire fleet of EVs may not be possible, but you can gradually add the vehicles to avoid a massive initial investment.

Employee Retention

As more consumers purchase electric cars, companies need to address the needs of their employees and clients to ensure a lasting relationship. Owners of EVS are more likely to work longer at a business that provides changing stations, and clients are more likely to frequent your company when they can easily charge their EV’s while they’re conducting business in your office. Promoting the use of charging stations on your website through blogs and emails can help your workers and customers become aware of the service.

Customer Approval

Although most of the world continues to rely on fossil fuels for energy, a growing number of consumers support organizations that use green practices. Reducing your environmental impact through charging stations and eco-friendly methods can improve your corporate image. More consumers are choosing only to conduct business with companies that support green initiatives. When you adopt green practices in your business plan, be sure to promote your efforts online to show the public that your company is committed to helping the environment.

pavement after slurry seal

Understanding the Appeal of Slurry Seal

When it comes to pavement treatments, slurry seal is one of the most popular and high-performance treatments. If you have cracked or uniformed pavement, you may want to consider the benefits of slurry seal.

What Is Slurry Seal?

Slurry seal is a homogeneous mixture. It includes well-graded fine aggregate, emulsified asphalt, and mineral filler. When applied to pavement surfaces, it has a fluid-like appearance. We use three basic aggregate gradations, which include:

  • Type I or fine
  • Type II or general
  • Type III or coarse

Each gradation has a specific use. Fine aggregate is used to fill small surface cracks by creating a thin level over the pavement. Sometimes, we can use a Type I aggregate slurry as a pre-treatment before an HMA overlay. On the other hand, general aggregate slurry can be used to treat moderate to severe raveling and improve skid resistance. Coarse aggregate slurry is for severe defects. We can use it to fill depressions to prevent ponding.

Why Would You Choose Slurry Seal?

At Asphalt Surfacing, we provide slurry seal and sealcoating. While sealcoating has benefits in low-traffic areas, slurry seal is great for roadways, airport tarmacs, shopping centers, and other high-traffic areas. Once it’s applied, you do have to wait about 8 to 10 hours for it to cure, but after that, it can last up to 10 years.

Slurry seal is considered a high-performance resurfacing treatment. It doesn’t just fill cracks, but it also adds a professional wear surface for additional protection. Slurry seal is a cost-effective solution to old, cracked pavement. With one application, you can have a uniform surface.

How Is Slurry Seal Applied?

To apply slurry seal, we use a spreader box connected to a slurry-mixing unit. The box spreads the slurry seal over the width of a traffic lane. The mixing procedure is automatic but constantly monitored by professionals. Personnel will clean the surface, barricade the area, and inspect your asphalt before application.

If you have cracked or depressed asphalt, our team at Asphalt Surfacing can assess the damage and decide whether slurry seal is right for you. To find out more about how we can help, call 408-673-4719 or send us an email today!
